Match the exact child and model
Read the current manual for minimum and maximum weight, age guidance, recline positions, harness use, and the developmental event that ends infant mode. Use the earliest applicable limit. Similar-looking fabrics and frames can have different instructions, so record the model and manufacture information and register the product where supported.
Build one safe floor location
Place the bouncer directly on a stable floor, away from stairs, cords, heaters, traffic, climbing siblings, and pets. Never set it on a bed, sofa, table, counter, or other elevated or soft surface. Check the base is fully opened and locked as directed before placing the child in it.
Use the restraint every time
Route and fasten the harness exactly as the manual shows, with clothing and blankets clear of the buckle and moving frame. Do not carry or move the bouncer with the child in it. Stop using infant mode at the stated weight or developmental milestone and never add padding, toys, or accessories the manufacturer has not approved.
Keep the sleep boundary explicit
A bouncer is not a crib, bassinet, or sleep surface. Use it only for awake, supervised time. If the baby becomes drowsy or falls asleep, move the baby promptly to a firm, flat surface intended for infant sleep and follow current safe-sleep guidance. Motion, apparent comfort, or an online anecdote does not change that rule.
Plan cleaning, handoff, and exit
Practice cover removal and correct washing before a spill, inspect seams, harness, fasteners, and frame after cleaning, and keep the manual with the product. Tell every caregiver the same placement and sleep rules. Stop for damage, missing parts, instability, an applicable recall, poor harness fit, or any instruction limit.
